"Greased Lightning"
These five cowboys with slickers flying are making a dash for cover. Being horseback is not a safe place to be during a lightning storm. I have a feeling they'll make it home safely, and they'll have a good story to tell.

"Sandstone Sentinel"
This painting was commissioned by the Amarillo Chamber Of Commerce to promote Palo Duro Canyon. It is the last time I painted the Lighthouse formation on location. Jeanne and I are getting too old to lug my paints and french easel the six miles required. If you look closely at this painting, you might find a visitor to the Lighthouse. I don't know how far he traveled.

"Patience And Determination"
When you're a kid, height is a problem, especially when you're trying to get on your horse. I think this young cowgirl has got it solved. My granddaughter Marley was the model for this painting. I enjoy using my grandkids as models except my wife always prays that the painting won't sell.

"The Old Mission"
I enjoy posting churches, especially old adobe missions. This particular church is similar to the one in Alamo Village, a movie set near Brackettville, Texas. It was based on a Spanish Mission is San Antonio in the 1800's.

"Blonde Hair And Sky Blue Eyes"
In this painting I wanted to show that even working cowgirls can be quite beautiful. I love the contrast of her pretty face and working gloves. My niece Hanna was the model for this painting. We're blessed to have many beautiful models in our family.

"The Lookouts"
This is one of my most popular paintings. It has been licensed for several products over the years. The background for this one is Monument Valley, one of my favorite places to paint. I used to paint on location there every year, and I've never lost that spell it has over me. It's a special place. No wonder they film so many movies there.

"The Hacienda"
Old adobe homes like this one are fun to paint. They have character. the chickens and burros add to the character as well. I could live there myself.

"As Free As The Wind"
This painting was commissioned by a jig-saw puzzle company which told me to put in as many horses as possible and to hide a few varmints in the foreground. I don't do commissions like this any longer, but it was kind of fun. When my kids were little, they loved looking for the hidden animals in my paintings, and always seemed disappointed when I didn't put any in.

"Liquidation Sale"
This young lady is having a frustrating day. She has a whole bucket of lemons, but no customers. I think even the dog has given up. This painting was done for my first book with Harvest House Publishing. "Everything I Need To Know, I Learned From My Grandfather"

"The Whisper Of Falling Leaves"
There's something very quiet and peaceful about autumn in high country. I sat beside this old beaver dam for quite some time one afternoon, just relaxing and giving thanks for my many blessings.
