One of my favorite jobs as a boy was going into our canyon and trying to find the perfect Christmas tree. Most years, I could find one that looked pretty good (at least from three sides). Then, two weeks before Christmas, I'de cut that perfect tree and bring it up on my horse. The young cowboy in this painting is doing my job.
